Steps For Postgraduate Applicants

All International or Foreign applicants should follow the steps below.

  1. Applicants should fill in the Online Admission Code Request Form below with a valid mobile number format. Eg 00233 becomes 233.
  2. You will receive the Serial Number and Personal Identification Number to access the Online Admission System via Text Message.
  3. Complete the Online Registration process.
  4. Print the completed form and add photocopies of relevant certificates including the copy of the Bank Pay-in-Slip.
  5. Send all documents to the address below.

Graduate Admissions

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the following engineering programmes:

  1. MSc and MPhil in Geomatic Eng., Geological Eng., Mining Eng., Mineral Eng., Mechanical Eng., Electrical & Electronic Eng. and Mathematics.
  2. PhD in Geological Eng., Mining Eng. and Mineral Eng.

MSc AND MPhil PROGRAMME ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
A. MSc / MPhil in Geomatic Engineering

  1. Applicants must have BSc First Class or Second Class (Upper Division) in Geomatic or Geodetic Engineering or its equivalent in Earth Sciences and related Engineering programmes from a recognised university.
  2. Holders of UMaT Diploma in the Ear th Sciences who hold senior positions in an appropriate industry and have at least 5 years professional experience and proven ability in their discipline are eligible for admission.

B. MSc / MPhil in Geological Engineering

  1. Applicants must have BSc First Class or Second Class (Upper Division) or its equivalent in Earth Sciences and related Engineering programmes from a recognised university.
  2. Holders of the UMaT Diploma in the Earth Sciences who hold senior positions in an appropriate industry and have at least 5 years professional experience with proven ability in their discipline are eligible for admission.

C. MSc / MPhil in Mining Engineering

  1. Applicants must have BSc First Class or Second Class (Upper Division) in Mining Engineering, relevant Engineering or Earth Sciences from a recognised University.
  2. Holders of UMaT Diploma who have at least 5 years professional experience and with proven ability in their respective disciplines are eligible for admission.

D. MSc / MPhil in Mineral Engineering

  1. A BSc First Class or Second Class (Upper Division) or its equivalent in Applied Sciences and related engineering programmes.
  2. Holders of UMaT Diploma in the Earth Sciences, who have at least five (5) years professional experience with proven ability in their discipline are eligible for admission.

E. MSc/MPhil in Mechanical Engineering

  1. Applicants must have BSc First Class or Second Class (Upper Division) in Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering and Engineering from a recognised university.
  2. Holders of UMaT Diploma in Mine Mechanical Engineering or Earth Sciences and related Engineering programmes who hold senior positions in an appropriate industry and have at least 5 years professional experience with proven ability in their discipline are eligible for admission.

F. MSc/MPhil in Electrical and Electronic Engineering

  1. Applicants must have BSc First Class or Second Class (Upper Division) or its equivalent in Electrical and/or Electronic Engineering or in related Engineering disciplines from a recognised University.
  2. iHolders of UMaT Diploma in Mine Electrical Engineering who hold senior positions in an appropriate industry and have at least 5 years professional experience with proven ability in their discipline are eligible for admission.

G. MSc/MPhil in Mathematics
The Department offers three Master’s Degree Programmes. These are:

  • Masters Programme in Financial Engineering
  • Masters Programme in Computational Mathematics
  • Masters Programme in Statistics
  1. Applicants must have BSc First Class or Second Class (Upper Division) in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science and Engineering from a recognised university.
  2. All applicants who do not satisfy (above but have degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Engineering and Science may be eligible only after passing an interview.

PhD PROGRAMME ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
A. PhD in Geological Engineering

  1. A candidate shall hold a Master’s degree or its equivalent, from a recognised institution and shall submit evidence of adequate training and ability to undertake the proposed programme.
  2. A candidate who does not hold a Master’s degree shall first register for a Master’s degree by research. If he/she proves himself/herself to be of sufficient caliber by the end of the first year of the programme, he/she may be recommended to register for the PhD degree.

B. PhD in Mining Engineering

  1. A candidate shall hold a Master’s degree or its equivalent, from a recognised institution and shall submit evidence of adequate training and ability to undertake the proposed programme.
  2. A candidate who does not hold a Master’s degree shall first register for a Master’s degree by research. If he/she proves himself/herself to be of sufficient caliber by the end of the first year of the programme, he/she may be recommended to register for the PhD degree.

C. PhD in Mineral Engineering

  1. A candidate shall hold a Master’s degree or its equivalent, from a recognised institution and shall submit evidence of adequate training and ability to undertake the proposed programme.
  2. A candidate who does not hold a Master’s degree shall first register for a Master’s degree by research. If he/she proves himself/herself to be of sufficient caliber by the end of the first year of the programme, he/she may be recommended to register for the PhD degree.

DURATION OF PROGRAMMES
MSc and MPhil Programmes:
Full-time: A maximum of two (academic years
Part-time:A maximum of three (3) academic years
PhD Programmes:
Full-time: A maximum of three (3) academic years
Part-time: A maximum of four (4) academic years
