2017/2018 Admissions – WASSCE/SSSCE/A-Level/Mature Applicants

Application forms for admission to degree programmes in the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) for the 2017/2018 Academic Year are available online at uhasonline.com/admissions for the under-listed undergraduate programmes:

The University

The University of Health and Allied Sciences was established by an Act of Parliament (Act 828 of December 2011) as a public university in Ghana. The main campus, including the Central Administration, is located in Ho. A second campus is located in Hohoe.

  • FEE PAYING APPLICANTS: Those who wish to be considered for FEE PAYING option in case they are unable to make the cut-off point(s) should tick the column provided on the online application form for FEE PAYING option.
  • WASSCE / SSSCE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL PROGRAMMES

Passes (A1-C6 / A-D) in English, Core Mathematics, Integrated Science and Social Studies in addition to three elective subjects applicable to the programme of choice
(Applicants should note that they are expected to have at least C6/D in Social Studies. However, the core subjects considered for calculating their aggregates are English Language, Core Mathematics and Integrated Science)
 
SCHOOL OF PHARMACY (REGULAR) – HO CAMPUS

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) (6 years)

Entry Requirements:
Three categories of applicants will be admitted to pursue the programme. They are:
 
i.  WASSCE/ SSSCE APPLICANTS
Passes (A1-C6 / A-D) in English, Core Mathematics, Integrated Sciences and Social Studies in addition to three elective subjects applicable to the programme of choice
(Applicants should note that they are expected to have at least C6/D in Social Studies. However, the core subjects considered for calculating their aggregates are English Language, Core Mathematics and Integrated Science)
 
ii.  A – LEVEL APPLICANTS
Candidates must have the General Certificate of Education at Ordinary Level in five (5) subjects, including English and Mathematics, in addition to: Chemistry, Physics and Biology; or General Science; additionally, General Science and any other subjects plus the General Certificate of Education at Advanced Level or its equivalent in the following subjects: Biology, Chemistry and Physics or Mathematics.
 
iii.  MATURE APPLICANTS
Applicants must have obtained a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Dispensing Technology/ Pharmacy Technician Course or its equivalent from a recognized institution with at least three (3) years relevant working experience.
 

OR

 

Applicants must have attained the age of 25 years at the time of submitting the application forms AND must have five (5) credits at O-level including English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Short-listed applicants must pass an interview.
 
SCHOOL OF BASIC AND BIOMEDICAL SCIENCES (REGULAR) – HO CAMPUS

Entry Requirements:

  • WASSCE / SSSCE OR ITS EQUIVALENT

English Language, Core Mathematics and Integrated Science plus Chemistry, Physics, Biology / Elective Mathematics
(Applicants should note that they are expected to have at least C6/D in Social Studies. However, the core subjects considered for calculating their aggregates are English Language, Core Mathematics and Integrated Science)
 
SCHOOL OF MEDICINE (REGULAR) – HO CAMPUS

  • Medical Degree (MB ChB) (6 years)
  • Bachelor of Physician Assistantship (Clinical)

Entry Requirements:

  • WASSCE / SSSCE OR ITS EQUIVALENT

English Language, Core Mathematics and Integrated Science plus Chemistry, Physics, Biology / Elective Mathematics
 
SCHOOL OF NURSING AND MIDWIFERY (REGULAR) – HO CAMPUS

  • Bachelor of Nursing
  • Bachelor of Midwifery
  • Bachelor of Public Health Nursing

Entry Requirements:

  • WASSCE / SSSCE OR ITS EQUIVALENT

English Language, Core Mathematics and Integrated Science plus any three (3) of the following: Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Elective Mathematics, Economics, Geography, Government, History, Christian Religious Studies or Islamic Religious Studies, Literature-in-English, French, General Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Food and Nutrition and Management in Living
(Applicants should note that they are expected to have at least C6/D in Social Studies. However, the core subjects considered for calculating their aggregates are English Language, Core Mathematics and Integrated Science)
 
SCHOOL OF ALLIED HEALTH SCIENCES (REGULAR) – HO CAMPUS

  • Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science
  • Bachelor of Speech and Language Therapy
  • Bachelor of Dietetics
  • Bachelor of Physiotherapy

Entry Requirements:

  • WASSCE / SSSCE OR ITS EQUIVALENT

English Language, Core Mathematics and Integrated Science plus Chemistry, Physics, Biology / Elective Mathematics
Bachelor of Dietetics applicants must have offered: English Language, Core Mathematics and Integrated Science plus any three (3) of the following: Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Elective Mathematics, Food and Nutrition, Management in Living, General Agriculture, Economics and Animal Husbandry
(Applicants should note that they are expected to have at least C6/D in Social Studies. However, the core subjects considered for calculating their aggregates are English Language, Core Mathematics and Integrated Science)
 
SCHOOL OF PUBLIC HEALTH (REGULAR) – HOHOE CAMPUS

  • Bachelor of Public Health (BPH) with the following options:

Health Information
Health Promotion
Nutrition
Entry Requirements:

  • WASSCE / SSSCE OR ITS EQUIVALENT

English Language, Core Mathematics and Integrated Science plus any three (3) of the following: Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Elective Mathematics, Management in Living, General Knowledge in Arts, Picture Making, Graphics, Food and Nutrition, Clothing and Textiles, Literature-In-English, CRS (Other Religious Studies), Ghanaian Languages, French, Economics, Government, History, Elective Mathematics, Crop and Soil Science, Animal Husbandry and Horticulture
 
(Applicants should note that they are expected to have at least C6/D in Social Studies. However, the core subjects considered for calculating their aggregates are English Language, Core Mathematics and Integrated Science)
 
How To Apply
  
DOMESTIC (GHANAIAN) APPLICANTS
Applicants for the 2017/2018 Academic Year admissions are required to read the ENTRY REQUIREMENTS carefully before proceeding to apply and they must use  the UHAS online admission portal to apply. The procedure for the online application process is as follows:
I. Applicants are required to purchase University of Health and Allied Sciences E-Vouchers at GH₵ 200.00 (Two Hundred Ghana Cedis) from any branch of the following points of sale:

  • Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) 
  • Agricultural Development Bank (adb)
  • Zenith Bank
  • Ghana Post Offices (i.e. the nearest Post Office

II. The E-Voucher contains a PIN and SERIAL NUMBER. The PIN and SERIAL NUMBER are required in completing the online application form.
III. Access the online form by visiting our online admission portal at uhasonline.com/admissions
IVFee Paying Applicants: Those who wish to be considered for FEE PAYING option in case they are unable to make the cut-off point(s), should tick the column provided on the online application form for FEE PAYING option.
V. In completing the online form, applicants will be required to upload their passport size photograph (not more than 400KB) with a white background.
VI. Awaiting Results should LOG OUT after completing STEP 2. They will be prompted to return to complete the process after WAEC has released the results.
VII. Upon completing the APPLICATION PROCESS, print three (3) copies of the PREVIEW PAGE (i.e. application summary), then submit online.
VIII. Applicants are advised to check thoroughly all details entered before they finally submit their online applications. A form, once submitted cannot be edited.
IX. Attach 3 copies of each result slip to the application documents printed out.
X. Applicants should purchase UHAS EMS envelopes (one big size envelope and one quarto size self-address envelope) from the nearest Ghana Post office.
XI. The application documents and the result slips in addition to the quarto size self-addressed envelope should be put in the big UHAS EMS envelope and be submitted at the nearest Ghana Post office.
XII. All application document(s) should be submitted via Ghana Post. The University will not accept any application document DIRECTLY from applicants.

Foreign applicants who have the qualifications listed under ENTRY REQUIREMENT or their equivalent from an accredited/recognized institution can apply as follows:

II. International Applicants should note that by the Laws of Ghana, they are expected to obtain Non-Citizen Ghanacard before they can be enrolled for courses offered at the University. International Applicants should therefore contact the Academic Affairs Directorate for assistance on how to obtain a Ghanacard.
III. Access the online form by visiting our online admission portal at uhasonline.com/admissions and click on “Click to apply as a Foreign Student”.
IV. An activation code will be sent to your mobile number and email address.
V. Go to Form Type and select Foreign Student. Use the activation code to access the application form.
VI. Applicants will be required to upload their passport size photograph (not more than 400KB) with a white background.
VII. Upon completing the APPLICATION PROCESS, print three (3) copies of the PREVIEW PAGE (i.e. application summary), then submit online.
VIII. Scan the application summary, your pay-in slip and certificates/results slips into one PDF or WORD document and send as an attachment to [email protected]
IX. Applicants should note that no application will be processed without proof of payment of the application fee.
X. Upon printing the application summary, applicants should attach 3 copies of each result slip.
XI. The application documents as specified in (X) above should be put in ONE envelope and be posted by any fast and reliable means to
