The School of Medicine runs two main programmes namely MB ChB (Medical Degree) and Bachelor of Physician Assistantship (Clinical). The MB ChB (Medical Degree) is a six year programme whiles the Bachelor of Physician Assistantship is a four year programme.

To produce professional, competent and compassionate medical professionals with effective leadership skills and a focus on community service and research.

VISION

The school of medicine is dedicated to providing innovative leadership in modern medical education, research, health improvement and patient focused care and to the training of professionals serving in communities with competence and compassion.

The Pre-Clinical Phase of the MB ChB Programme
The programme will be Modular and integrated. It is agreed that problem-based and team-based approaches will be used in teaching. The six-year programme which will be run in three phases shall be as follows:

1. One year for University required courses;
2. Two years of pre-clinical training
3. Three years of clinical training, using the Regional Hospital and several District Hospitals in the Region.
