Takoradi Technical University 2019/2020 Admission Forms, applications will be opened for the admission of prospective applicants into various undergraduate programmes for the 2019/2020 academic year in Febuary 2019.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the following Faculty Programmes:
A.     FACULTY OF APPLIED ARTS AND TECHNOLOGY (FAAT)     

  • MASTER OF TECHNOLOGY IN GRAPHIC DESIGN (WEEKENDS)

PROGRAMME DURATION
The M-Tech in Graphic Design shall be for two (2) years.
SUMMARY OF ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Applicants with the following certificates are eligible to apply:

  • Applicants with Bachelor of Technology (B-TECH) in Printing, Graphic Design or related Visual/Creative Art certificates, must possess a minimum of Second Class (Lower Division) from an accredited tertiary institution.
  • Bachelor of Art (BA) Publishing Studies (Printing or Design and illustration option, with a minimum of Second Class (Lower Division).
  • BA Communication Design/BFA/BA Graphic Design with a minimum of Second Class (Lower Division) from an accredited tertiary institution.
  • Holders of equivalent first degree qualifications in related Visual/Creative Art from recognized academic or professional institutions in and or outside Ghana.
  • Working experience will be an added advantage.

 

  • MASTER OF TECHNOLOGY IN TEXTILES (WEEKENDS)

PROGRAMME DURATION
The M-Tech in Textiles shall be for two (2) years.
SUMMARY OF ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor of Technology (B-TECH) in Industrial Arts (Textiles Option) from an accredited tertiary institution must possess a minimum of Second Class (Lower Division).
  • Bachelor of Technology (B-TECH) in Fashion Design applicants must possess a minimum of Second Class (Lower Division) from an accredited tertiary institution.
  • Holders of equivalent first degree qualifications in related Visual/Creative Art from a recognized academic or professional institution. Working experience will be an added advantage.
  • BA Industrial Art

HND/DIPLOMA HOLDERS

  1. Bachelor of Technology in Graphic Design (Options: Multimedia, Advertising, Printing and Animation: Applicants must possess, at least, HND 2nd Class (Lower Division) certificate in Graphic Design from any recognized University/Polytechnic. Candidates with equivalent qualifications/certificates can seek clarification from the Admissions Office. Working experience will be an added advantage.

–        Holders of any other Commercial Art option (Sculpture, Ceramics and Painting) with HND 2nd Class Upper Division or better must pass a selection interview. Those with HND 2nd Class Lower Division must pass written examination and selection interview.

  1. Bachelor of Technology in Textiles: Applicants must possess, at least, HND 2nd Class (Lower Division) certificate in Textiles and Fashion Design & Technology OR an equivalent certificate in Fashion Design & Technology from any recognized University/Polytechnic. Candidates with equivalent qualifications/certificates can seek clarification from the Admissions Office. Working experience will be an added advantage.
  1.   • ·SSSCE Candidates: Applicants must have six (6) passes (A-D) in all subjects, including English Language and Mathematics and, at least, three (3) elective passes (Ceramics, Graphic Design, Bead Making, Basketry, Leatherworks, Clothing & Textiles, Sculpture, Picture Making, Jewelry, Woodwork, Metalwork and General Knowledge in Art) relevant to applicant’s area of specialization.
  • ·WASSCE Candidates: Applicants must have six (6) passes (A1-D7) in all subjects, including English Language and Mathematics and must possess a minimum of C6 in any three (3) of the passes (Ceramics, Graphic Design, Bead Making, Basketry, Leatherworks, Clothing & Textiles, Sculpture, Picture Making, Jewelry, Woodwork, Metalwork and General Knowledge in Art) relevant to the area of specialization.

(ii)    ADVANCE PAINTING AND DECORATION CERTIFICATE APPLICANTS

  • Applicants with Advanced P&D with Four (4) SSSCE/WASSCE certificate with passes in English Language and Mathematics can apply for any of the HND programmes under FAAT.
  • INTERMEDIATE CERTIFICATE IN PAINTING AND DECORATION (P&D)

Intermediate P&D Certificate holders with passes in English Language and Mathematics and any three (3) Arts electives with aggregate not exceeding 28 can also apply for any of the HND programmes.

  • NABPTEX CERTIFICATE II

NABPTEX Certificate II applicants with passes in English Language and Mathematics can apply for any of the HND programmes under FAAT
(v)    GCE ‘A’ LEVEL APPLICANTS
Applicants must have five (5) G.C.E. ‘O’ Level passes in English Language, Mathematics and any subject plus three (3) ‘A’ Level passes are eligible to apply.

  1. Professional Diploma in Arts and Design

  • ·WASSCE Candidates: Applicants must have Five (5) passes (A1-E8) in all subjects, including English Language and Mathematics in (Ceramics, Graphic Design, Bead Making, Basketry, Leatherworks, Clothing & Textiles, Sculpture, Picture Making, Jewelry, Woodwork, Metalwork and General Knowledge in Art) relevant to the area of specialization.

DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES (REGULAR)

  1. Diploma in Fashion Design and Technology
  2. Diploma in Sculpture Technology

Diploma in Fashion Design and Technology

  • A pass or better in Intermediate dressmaking/fashion Certificate Examination.
  • A pass in Two (2) Core and Two (2) elective in SSSCE/WASSCE or its equivalent.
  • A pass in certificate course of NVTI or its equivalence in addition to a pass in BECE with one year working experience.
  • A recognized equivalence in allied subjects and qualifications as stated above.
  1. Diploma in Sculpture Technology
  • Four (4) SSSCE/WASSCE passes compromising three (3) core subjects including English and Mathematics plus Two (2) Elective subjects.
  • Four (4) GCE ‘O’ Level including English and Mathematics.
  • A pass in English and Mathematics plus Intermediate Technician Part 1 in (Block Work, Woodwork, Metal Fabrication, Leatherwork).
  • A mature applicant not below 25 years must provide documentary evidence of work experience and pass entrance examination.

CERTIFICATE PROGRAMMES
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the underlisted Certificate Programmes:

  1. 3.     Certificate in Fashion Design and Technology (5months)
  • Applicants should provide evidence of at least Three (3) years Artisanship in any one or more of the following allied trades of fashion: (Dressmaking, Tailoring, Batik, Tie and Dye, Embroidery, Footwear, Bags/Cases, Hats, Jewelry, Beauty Culture, Upholsteries, Cosmetics) plus proficiency in English language.
  • Applicant must pass selection interview.
  1. 4.     Certificate in Ceramics  (One Year)
  • Applicants with four (4) passes in SSSCE/WASSCE, including English Language and Mathematics
  • Applicants with Four (4) passes in GCE ‘O’ Level including English Language and Mathematics

  • Laboratory Technician Certificate applicants seeking admission to pursue HND Science Laboratory Technology must pass a written entrance examination in English Language and Mathematics and must pass an interview to be conducted by the University. Working experience will be an added advantage.

  •  Certificate in Tour Guide  

–        Applicants who possess SSSCE, WASSCE, ‘O’ Level and professionals in the related fields can apply.   Applicants with NVTI Grade I and II and, at least, with relevant practical experience are also eligible to apply.
–        HND Tourism Management/ HND Hospitality Management graduates who wish to be Tour Guide are encouraged to apply.
–        Practicing event Tour Guide who do not have the required certificate are also encouraged to apply.

  • Certificates in Event Management and Catering

–         Applicants who possess SSSCE, WASSCE, ‘O’ Level and professionals in related fields can apply.   Applicants with NVTI Grade I and II and, at least, one year relevant practical experience are also eligible to apply.
–        HND Tourism Management/ HND Hospitality Management graduates who wish to be event managers/organizers are encouraged to apply.
–        Practicing event managers/organizers who do not have the required certificate are also encouraged to apply.

  • Certificate in Information Technology/Networking/Software Engineering

–        BECE Applicants
Passes in English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science (minimum of grade 6) plus passes in
three other subjects (minimum of grade 6)
–        Mature Applicants
At least 22 years old; Six (6) BECE passes including English Language and Mathematics
Must have the relevant working experience of at least one (1) year

  • Bachelor of Technology in Accounting with Computing: Applicants must possess, at least, HND 2nd Class (Lower Division) certificates in Accounting from any recognized University/Polytechnic. Candidates with equivalent qualifications/certificates can seek clarification from the Admissions Office. Working experience will be an added advantage.

–      ICAG, ACCA, CIMA: Applicants with passes in at least level 2 of ICAG, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent are also eligible to apply.
–      Advanced Diploma in Computerized Accounting: Holders of Advanced Diploma in Computerized Accounting or equivalent from a recognized tertiary institution can apply.

  • Bachelor of Technology in Marketing: Applicants must possess, at least, HND 2nd Class (Lower Division) certificates in Marketing from any recognized University/Polytechnic. Candidates with equivalent qualifications/certificates can seek clarification from the Admissions Office. Working experience will be an added advantage.
  • Bachelor of Technology in Secretaryship and Management Studies: Applicants must possess, at least, HND 2nd Class (Lower Division) certificates in Secretaryship & Management Studies from any recognized University/Polytechnic. (ii)    GCE ‘A’ LEVEL APPLICANTS
Applicants must have five (5) G.C.E. ‘O’ Level passes in English Language, Mathematics and any subject plus three (3) ‘A’ Level passes.
(iii)   DIPLOMA IN BUSINESS STUDIES APPLICANTS

  • Applicants must possess a DBS Certificate and five (5) G.C.E. ‘O’ Level passes OR four (4) SSSCE/WASSCE passes including English Language and Mathematics.

(iv)     ADVANCE BUSINESS CERTIFICATE OR (RSA III) APPLICANTS
Applicants must have three passes in RSA III plus any of the following:

  • Five (5) RSA II, including English Language and Mathematics;

SUMMARY OF ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
(i)        SSSCE/WASSCE APPLICANTS

  • SSSCE Candidates: Applicants must possess six (6) passes (A-D) in all subjects, including English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science and at least three (3) elective passes which must be relevant to their area of specialization (Engineering Science, Physics, Chemistry, Metal Work and Technical Drawing).
  • WASSCE Candidates: Applicants must possess six (6) passes (A1-D7) in all subjects, including English Language and Mathematics and must possess a minimum of C6 in any three (3) of the passes relevant to their area of specialization (Engineering Science, Physics, Chemistry, Metal Work and Technical Drawing).  .

(ii)       GCE ‘A’ LEVEL APPLICANTS
Applicants must have five (5) G.C.E. ‘O’ Level passes in English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science, plus two (2) GCE ‘A’ Level passes in Physics, Engineering Science, Chemistry, Metal Work, Technical Drawing or Agricultural Science.
(iii)      TECHNICIAN CERTIFICATE APPLICANTS

  • Applicants with passes in Technician EET I & II, MET III & III, CTC II & III and MVT II & III Certificates with at least passes in English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science are also eligible to apply in their respective fields.
  • Radio and Television Technician or Telecommunication Technicians or any related subjects with at least passes in English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science are also eligible to apply for HND Electrical/Electronic Engineering.

(vi)      ADVANCED CRAFT CERTIFICATE IN BLOCKWORK & CONCRETING APPLICANTS
Applicants with Advanced Craft Certificate in Blockwork & Concreting seeking admission to pursue HND Civil Engineering must have in addition 3SSSCE/WASSCE passes in English Language, Elective Mathematics and Elective Physics OR GCE ‘O’ Level in English Language, Mathematics and Physics.

Applicants must have four (4) passes in General Engineering Examination: Electrical Installation Work Certificate. Telecommunication Technician Part II, OR five GCE ‘O’ Level passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Technical Drawing, Applied Electricity or Basic Electronics OR four (4) passes in (including Mathematics and English Language) in the SSSCE or WASSCE examination.

  1. 2.     Motor Vehicle Technician (MVT I)

Applicants must have passes in all three (3) components in Intermediate Automobile Engineering or passes in four (4) SSSCE/WASSCE subjects, including English Language and Mathematics or Elective Mathematics AND any two relevant elective subjects or any recognized professional certificate.

  1. 3.   Mechanical Engineering Technician (MET I)

Applicants must have passes in all (3) components in Intermediate Mechanical Engineering (Mechanical Engineering Craft Practices), or passes in four (4) SSSCE/WASSCE including English and Mathematics or Elective Mathematics, or any two (2) passes in relevant elective subjects.

Applicant(s) must have EET I, MET I and MVT I in relevant areas of specialization.

  • Applicants must possess, at least, HND 2nd Class (Lower Division) certificate in Building Technology from any recognized University/Polytechnic. Candidates with equivalent qualifications/certificates can seek clarification from the Admissions Office. Working experience will be an added advantage.
  • CTC Part II (old Scheme holders) and CTC Part III holders will go through a bridging programme for one semester before being enrolled in the B-Tech.

–        Applicants with Diploma in Draughtsmanship English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science can apply for the HND Construction Engineering & Management programme.
–        Technical Training Institutes applicants with passes in Carpentry & Joinery (C&J), Wood Technology, Intermediate Craftmanship plus English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science.
