ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR BACHELOR OF TECHNOLOGY PROGRAMMES
(I) BACHELOR OF TECHNOLOGY (B.TECH) IN ACCOUNTING – (2 YEARS TOP-UP PROGRAMME)

  1. Graduates of Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accounting and students transferring from similar programmes run at other accredited/recognized institutions with a minimum of Second (2nd) Class Lower Division plus at least one (1) year working experience. OR
  2. Applicants with Level II qualification of ICA-Gh and ACCA Foundation (F1 to F9) or CIMA Level II examinations. OR

iii. HND Graduates with passes lower than the minimum Second (2nd) Class Lower Division requirement indicated above but have worked in relevant fields for at least one (1) year may apply. Such applicants will be admitted based on interview performance. OR

  1. HND graduates from other fields or disciplines with a qualification lower than the minimum Second (2nd) Class Lower Division requirement with at least one (1) year working experience in accounting related fields.

 
(II)  B.TECH. IN PROCUREMENT AND SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT – (2 YEARS TOP-UP PROGRAMME)

  1. HND graduates in Purchasing and Supply, HND Building Technology and students transferring from similar programmes run at other accredited institutions with a minimum of Second (2nd) Class Lower Division plus at least one (1) year working experience. Or
  2. Applicants with Level 4 Foundation Diploma of Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (CIPS-UK) qualifications or equivalent of Chartered Institute of Builders, UK may apply. Or
  • HND graduates with passes lower than the minimum 2nd Class Lower Division requirement indicated above but have worked in relevant fields for at least one (1) year may apply. Such applicants will be admitted based on interview performance. Or
  1. HND graduates from other fields or disciplines with a qualification not lower than the minimum 2nd Class Lower Division requirement with at least one (1) year working experience in procurement related fields.

 
(III) BACHELOR OF TECHNOLOGY (B.TECH) IN SECRETARYSHIP AND MANAGEMENT STUDIES – (2 YEARS TOP-UP PROGRAMME)

  1. Graduates of Higher National Diploma (HND) in Secretaryship and Management Studies and students transferring from similar programmes run at other accredited/recognized institutions with minimum of Second (2nd) Class Lower Division plus at least one (1) year relevant post qualification experience in the relevant field. Or
  2. Applicants with Private Secretaryship Certificate who have one (1) year working experience in secretarial field shall be admitted after passing a qualifying examination. Or
  • Applicants with level one (1) qualification of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA) qualifying examinations. Such applicants (ICSA applicants) shall be admitted based on an entrance examination and interview performance. Or
  1. HND Secretaryship and Management Studies graduates with passes lower than the minimum Second (2nd) Class Lower Division requirement indicated above but have worked in relevant fields for at least two (2) years may apply. Such applicants will be admitted based on interview performance. Or
  2. Other HND graduates from other related fields of disciplines with a qualification lower than the minimum Second (2nd) Class Lower Division with at least five (5) years working experience in Secretaryship related fields. Such applicants shall be admitted based on interview performance.

 
(IV) BACHELOR OF TECHNOLOGY (B.TECH) IN MARKETING– (18 MONTHS TOP-UP   PROGRAMME)

  1. HND graduates in Marketing, and students transferring from similar/related programmes run at other accredited institutions with a minimum of Second (2nd) Class Lower Division plus at least one (1) year working experience. Or
  2. Applicants with professional Diploma from CIM (UK/Ghana) Or
  • HND graduates with passes lower than the minimum 2nd Class Lower Division requirement indicated above but have worked in relevant fields for at least one (1) year may apply. Such applicants will be admitted based on interview performance. Or
  1. HND graduates from other fields or disciplines with a qualification not lower than the minimum 2nd Class Lower Division requirement with at least one (1) year working experience in Marketing related fields.

 
(V)    BACHELOR OF TECHNOLOGY IN AUTOMOTIVE ENGINEERING – (2 YEARS TOP-UP PROGRAMME)

  1. HND Automotive Engineering, HND Mechanical Engineering (Plant and Production Options) with at least Second (2nd) Class Lower Division plus a minimum of one (1) year post-HND relevant industrial experience in an automobile or related field. Or
  2. KNUST Diploma plus a minimum of one (1) year post-Diploma relevant industrial experience in an automobile or related field.

iii. City and Guilds of London Institute (Part III)

  1. Motor Vehicle Technician Part III (MVT III)

(VI)   BACHELOR OF TECHNOLOGY IN BUILDING TECHNOLOGY – (2 YEARS TOP-UP PROGRAMME)

  1. HND graduates with a minimum of Second (2nd) Class Lower Division in Building Technology or Civil Engineering. Or
  2. HND Graduates with passes lower than the minimum Second (2nd) Class Lower Division requirement indicated above must pass a selection interview to be conducted by the University. Or
  • Holders of Construction Technician Part III. Or
  1. Holders of Construction Technician Part II (old scheme)

 
(VII) BACHELOR OF TECHNOLOGY (B.TECH.) IN CIVIL ENGINEERING –(2 YEARS   TOP-UP PROGRAMME)

  1. HND graduates with a minimum of Second (2nd) Class Lower Division in Civil Engineering or Building Technology. Or
  2. HND Graduates with passes lower than the minimum Second (2nd) Class Lower Division requirement indicated above must pass a selection interview to be conducted by the University. Or

iii. Holders of Construction Technician Part III. Or

  1. Holders of Construction Technician Part II (old scheme)

(VIII)  BACHELOR OF TECHNOLOGY IN RENEWABLE ENERGY SYSTEMS ENGINEERING – (2 YEARS TOP-UP PROGRAMME)

  1. Entry is limited to holders of at least Second (2nd) Class Lower Certificate in Higher National Diploma (HND) in Renewable Energy Systems Engineering or HND Mechanical Engineering (Production and Plant options) Or
  2. HND in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or Chemical Engineering. Equivalent entry requirements are the KNUST Diploma in Mechanical Engineering/Physics. In addition, applicants must have at least one (1) year relevant industrial experience in an energy related field.

(IX) BACHELOR OF TECHNOLOGY IN TELECOM ENGINEERING – (2 YEARS TOP-UP                      PROGRAMME)

  1. Graduates of Higher National Diploma (HND) in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or Computer Science and students transferring from similar programmes ran at other accredited/recognized institutions with a minimum of 2nd Class Lower Division plus at least one (1) year working/industrial experience. HND Computer Science certificate holders without appropriate course content in Electrical/Electronics technology in their programme will be required to do the requisite bridging courses. Or
  2. Applicants with Diploma in Electrical and Electronic related courses from recognized institutions with a minimum of one (1) year industrial working experience. Or
  • Foreign students with qualifications equivalent to Ghana HND Electrical/Electronics Engineering certificate. Or
  1. Holders of Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technician Part III

(X) BACHELOR OF TECHNOLOGY IN MECHANICAL ENGINEERING –(2 YEARS TOP-UP PROGRAMME)

  1. HND Mechanical Engineering (Plant or Production Options) with at least Second (2nd) Class Lower Division plus a minimum of One (1) year post-HND relevant industrial experience in a Mechanical or related field. Or
  2. HND Graduates with passes lower than the minimum Second (2nd) Class Lower Division requirement indicated above must pass a selection interview to be conducted by the University.

Other Recognized Diplomas

  1. Mechanical Engineering Technician Part III (MET III)
  2. KNUST Diploma in Mechanical Engineering plus a minimum of one (1) year post-Diploma relevant industrial experience in a Mechanical or related field.

 
(XI)BACHELOR OF TECHNOLOGY (B.TECH) IN APPLIED STATISTICS (FINANCIAL STATISTICS OPTION) – (2 YEARS TOP-UP PROGRAMME)

  1. Applicants must have HND (First Class or Second Class Upper Division) in Statistics with a minimum of two years working experience. Applicants with Second Class Lower Division will have to attend and pass an interview.
  2. Diploma qualifications from elsewhere assessed to be equivalent to HND may be similarly considered.

 
(XII) BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN COMPUTER SCIENCE

  1. Applicants with Higher National Diploma (HND) in the following areas with a minimum of 2nd Class Lower Division are eligible to apply:

  3. HND Electricals/Electronics
  4. HND Computer Network Management

(XIII) BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
Applicants with Higher National Diploma (HND) in the following areas with a minimum of 2nd Class Lower Division are eligible to apply:

GENERAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR HND PROGRAMMES
 

  1. SSSCE/WASSCE APPLICANTS
  • SSSCE Candidates: Passes (A-D) in three (3) core subjects namely English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science/Social Studies; and must possess a minimum of D in any three (3) of the passes relevant to the area of specialization.
  • WASSCE Candidates: Passes (A-D7) in three (3) core subjects namely English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science; and must possess a minimum of C6 in any three (3) of the passes relevant to the area of specialization.
  1. GBCE/ ‘O’/A’LEVEL/ABCE APPLICANTS

Five (5) GBCE /GCE‘O’-Level credit passes (including English Language and Mathematicsplus at least two (2) GCE ‘A’ level/ABCE passes excluding General Paper.

  • APPLICANTS FROM TECHNICAL SCHOOLS (CERTIFICATE II APPLICANTS)

Applicants must have passes in three (3) subjects including English Language and Mathematics and Integrated Science plusthree (3) relevant elective subjects/trade courses.

  1. DBS APPLICANTS

Four (4) SSSCE/WASSCE passes including English and Mathematics plus at least three (3) passes in relevant DBS subjects.

  1. TEACHER’S CERTIFICATE.

Applicant must have Three- Year Post-Secondary Certificate or Four Year Certificate ‘A’ with a minimum of two (2) years teaching experience, plus three (3) GCE O-Level or SSSCE/WASSCE passes in relevant elective subjects.

  1. MATURE APPLICANTS
  • Applicants must be twenty-five (25) years old and must show proof of age with birth certificate or any legitimate documentary proof of date of birth which is twenty-five (25) years old at the time of application.
  • Must pass a written test in English Language, Mathematics and General Knowledge to be conducted by the Koforidua Technical University.

 
     NB:
     ADMISSION OF DIPLOMA IN BUSINESS STUDIES (DBS) GRADUATES TO LEVEL    200 OF THE HND PROGRAMMES OF STUDY
Applicants who hold Diploma in Business Studies (DBS) certificates with Distinction or Credit passes from any of the Ghana Education Service (GES) accredited institutions are eligible for admission to Level 200 to pursue any of the relevant Business/Science related programmes of study at the HND level. Similarly, applicants who hold DBS certificates with a minimum of pass(es) from any of the GES accredited institutions are eligible for admission to Level 100 to pursue any of the relevant business/science related programmes of study at the HND level.
The above requirements should be backed with at least four (4) WASSCE/SSSCE credit passes including English Language and Mathematics.
*The Technical Examinations Unit (TEU) has changed the titles of the Intermediate Fashion Design & Textiles and Cookery 812/1 to Certificate II in Fashion Design and Textiles and Catering Certificate II respectively and  students who will be successful in all the courses at their final examination shall qualify for direct admission  into relevant HND programmes. The duration is (2) years.

  1. Mechanical Engineering Technician (MET) Part I

  • Technical Option Subjects :Engineering Crafts, Intermediate General Engineering (GE), MECP

  1. Electrical Engineering Technician (EET) Part I
  • Four (4) SSSCE/WASSCE passes including English, Mathematics and Science and any two of the following – Applied Electricity/Electronics, Physics, Mathematics.

    • Passes in relevant SSSCE/WASSCE/GBCE/ GCE O-Level subjects.
    • NVTI Grade II or JHS Certificate with working experience.

  1. ACCESS COURSE /PRE-HND PROGRAMME

The National Board for Professional and Technicians Examinations (NABPTEX) has designed an access    course for Technical/Vocational Institute graduates into HND Programmes. NABPTEX will conduct a final      external examination after which successful applicants shall proceed to enroll in the under listed HND PROGRAMMES:

Duration – One (1) academic year (i.e. Two (2) semesters of 16 weeks per semester)
Note: Candidates would be required to obtain at least 50% in each of the three (3) subjects namely: English Language, Mathematics and Science.
 
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
 

  1. Applicants must have a minimum of Craft Course. Or
  2. Applicants must have MET I, MVT I and EET I or its equivalent. Or
  • Applicants should have a minimum qualification of Intermediate or Craft Certificate or its equivalent from a recognized examinations body. With regards to Hospitality Management, applicants must have Cookery 812/2.

 

  1. PROFESSIONAL PROGRAMMES

 
The University has re-introduced the following professional programmes to be run on WEEKENDS on the   main campus of the polytechnic.

To qualify to write any of the professional examinations above, the candidate SHOULD first register as a student of an appropriate professional body.
 
      Entry Requirements: The basic educational qualifications include:
 

  • PART I:

 
REGULAR ENTRY:
 
5 GCE ‘O’ Level credits or 5 RSA II or 5 GBCE or
5 WASSCE/SSSCE passes including English Language and Mathematics. PLUS any of the following:

  • 3 ‘A’ Level passes with at least a grade ‘D’ in one subject excluding General Paper Or

 

  • 3 RSA III Or LCCI III or 3 ABCE or DBS in relevant subject areas Or
  • HND in relevant subject areas Or
  • Post- Secondary Certificate Or
  1. A very good first degree in a relevant subject area from a recognized tertiary institution Or
  2. 6 Passes at WASSCE with at least aggregate 20 including English and Mathematics
  • A Masters degree in a relevant subject area from a recognized tertiary institution Or
  1. 6 GBCE with at least aggregate 20 and including English and Mathematics
  2. Mature Applicants should be 25years of age minimum and must possess the relevant basic academic qualification.

 

  1. G) CERTIFICATE PROGRAMME IN SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES – 3 MONTHS (SATURDAYS ONLY)
