University Of Cape Coast UCC Ranking

University rankings are done on annual basis by some notable organizations. Below is one of such university rankings.
University of Cape-Coast has moved from 93rd to 71st in the latest 4ICU ranking among Africa top 100 universities.
4 International Colleges and Universities [4ICU] is an international higher education search engine and directory reviewing accredited universities and colleges featuring 11,160 colleges and universities ranked by web popularity in 200 countries.
UCC ranked behind the University of Ghana which moved from being ranked 21st position in the last ranking to 26thposition and University of Science and Technology [KNUST] which also moved from its 38th position in the last ranking to 63rd position.
This indicates that UCC has made a giant stride over the years after moving from its 99th position last two years to 93rd position year and currently 71st position.
The University of South Africa came first in the Africa top 100 universities followed by University of Cape Town. Meanwhile, Massachusetts Institute of Technology placed first in the world ranking followed by Stanford University and Harvard University in 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.
A statement on 4ICU website read, ‘’the criteria used in the ranking are based on an algorithm including five unbiased and independent web metrics extracted from three different search engines; Google Page Rank, Alexa Traffic Rank, Majestic Seo Referring Domain, Majestic Seo Citation Flow and Majestic Seo Trust Flow.’’
They further explained, ‘’we do not claim-by any means-to rank organisations or their programs by the quality of education or level of services provided. The 4ICU.org university Web Ranking is not an academic ranking and should not be adopted as the main criteria for selecting a higher education organisation where to study.’’
With this explanation, UCC will have to worry less about its academic standing, but work hard to improve on its web popularity.
