Executive MBA

The Lancaster Executive MBA programme is designed to build your functional knowledge and your leadership capability through a combination of taught modules in key management areas interspersed with experiential projects, or challenges, where you apply that knowledge to specific business issues. These are complemented by action oriented coursework assignments in your organisation.

Duration: 24 Months (Part-time)

The taught modules are grouped into three key themes or perspectives
– The Strategic Perspective – the ‘big picture’ of where the organisation is and wants to go
– The Relational Perspective – the ‘soft skills’ and people management aspects of leadership
– The Practice Perspective – the practical aspects of leading and managing the various business functions

Why the Lancaster Executive MBA?

When you embark on a part-time MBA, it’s never an easy ride. You expect and want it to be challenging and to test your abilities in all directions. That is certainly true at Lancaster – unsurprising from a management school that has achieved top rankings in the UK for teaching and research for more than a decade.
Those qualities are reflected in the staff you’ll meet on the programme – and in the real currency and rigour of the ideas you’ll be introduced to.
What makes the Lancaster EMBA truly distinctive, however, are its concept of learning through action which shapes the entire programme design, and its focus on both personal development and organisational development

This module not only examines the impact of change on organisations and individuals, it also explores the process of diagnosis and of developing appropriate strategies for leading and managing change.

It gives you scope to test out your new knowledge and skills in an unfamiliar environment, thus helping to embed your learning from the programme as a whole. A preparatory workshop, held before you meet your client, introduces you to some of the key consultancy skills and tools
Dissertation
Work based assignments
After each of the modules you complete a practical, work-focused assignment, where you apply and evaluate some of the theories you have just learnt, effectively acting as an internal consultant and generating actionable recommendations for your organisation. Covering all areas of business operations – from strategy and marketing to operations and finance – this work will engage you with all parts of your own organisation.
The assignments allow you to show your knowledge and understanding of the concepts and theories you have been introduced to but, most importantly, to apply them in order to understand and improve real organisational situations.
