ADMISSION OF CANDIDATES TO MODULAR AND EVENING 2016, MASTER’S DEGREE PROGRAMMES
(EMPA/EMGL /MPA AND MDM) FOR 2015/2016 ACADEMIC YEAR (ACCRA AND KUMASI CAMPUSES)
The GIMPA School of Public Service and Governance (GSPSG)
invite prospective applicants for admission into its master’s degree
programmes for the 2015/2016 academic year.
1. MASTER OF PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION (MPA)
The programme aims to develop policy leader’s .i.e. – Those who are
(or intend to become) policy decision‐makers and analysts.
The programme prepares students for careers in the public, nonstate
and private sectors. Students will be equipped with skills in
policy coordination and responsiveness.
They will develop skills in policy formulation, analysis and
implementation to deal with complex public management issues.
Students may specialise in one of the following areas of study:
 Human Resource Management
 Public Sector Governance
 Public Policy Analysis
 Public Finance
 International Development
 Education Sector Management.
 Monitoring and Evaluation
 International Relations and Diplomacy
2. MASTER OF DEVELOPMENT MANAGEMENT (MDM)
The Master of Development Management programme is conceived
against the background of Ghana’s need for a highly trained cadre
of middle and senior managers to facilitate development that
benefits its middle income status. Students may specialise in the
following areas of study:
 International Development
 Rural Enterprise Development
 Development Finance
 Monitoring and Evaluation
EXECUTIVE MASTER (EMPA/EMGL)
Two Executive Master’s Degree Programmes will be offered:
(a) Executive Master of Public Administration (EMPA)
(b) Executive Master of Governance and Leadership (EMGL)
These programmes help public sector executives acquire
skills for transformational leadership and for dealing with the
complexities of high level organisational management
MINIMUM ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
A bachelor’s degree from any approved/recognized university
with at least a second class lower division.
MINIMUM ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR
EMPA/EMGL
A bachelor’s degree from any approved/recognised
university with at least a second class lower division
with at least 5 years working experience.
PROGRAMME DELIVERY OPTIONS
The Modular Masters’ Programmes are of two (2)
years duration and are designed to meet the needs of
today’s executives. The programmes are carefully
structured to suit the busy schedules of our
participants. The modules are covered over five
three‐week residential sessions. Each 3‐week
residential session comprises a minimum of 120
hours of face‐to‐face teaching followed by a period of
5 months non‐residential guided study. The
programme begins in August 2016. Lectures are
held on GIMPA Campus.
The Regular Masters’ Programmes are based on a
semester system and will be completed in two (2)
years. It comprises courses which are covered in four
(4) semesters of sixteen (16) weeks each. Evening
lectures are also held on mondays to fridays with
lectures beginning at 6:00 p.m. and ending at 9:00
p.m. These programmes begin in February 2016.
Lectures are held on GIMPA Campus.

be obtained from the Cashier’s Office at GIMPA or
downloaded from the GIMPA Website –
www.gimpa.edu.gh. Application fee GHC150.00.
