RECRUITMENT INTO GHANA ARMED FORCES ENTRY REQUIREMENT FOR 2017/2018 GAF RECRUITMENT EXERCISE

GENERAL ELIGIBILITY FOR RECRUITMENT INTO GHANA ARMED FORCES

  1. Eligible applicant must:
  2. Be a Ghanaian citizen by birth.
  3. Be of good character.
  4. Be not less than 18 years of age and not more than 25 years for Non – Tradesmen and not more than 27 years for Tradesmen.
  5. Be medically fit by Armed Forces standards.
  6. Be not married.
  7. Be not bonded.
  8. Be of minimum height of 1.68m (5’6”) for males and 1.57m (5’2”) for females. For Military Police only; be of a minimum height of 1.75m (5’9”) for males and 1.70m (5’7”) for females.
  9. Have six (6) Credits (not less than Grade 6) at BECE including English and Mathematics.
  10. Have five credits (not less than Grade C6) in WASSCE, including Core English and Core Mathematics or the requisite credits/passes in respective trade qualifications from GES at Intermediate or Advance Level.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS 

  1. Army Candidates.
  2. Infantry/Armour/Artillery/Military Police. In addition to the General Eligibility applicants must have 6 Credits (not less than Grade C6) at WASSCE including English and Mathematics.
  3. Pay Corps. In addition to the General Eligibility applicants must have any of the following:

(1) Six Credits (not less than Grade C6 including English and Mathematics) at WASSCE with Accounting or Business options.
(2) RSA Stage III in Accounting.
(3) Diploma in Business Studies (Accounting Option).

  1. Engineer Corps. In addition to the General Eligibility applicants must have any of the following:

(1) Electricians.
(a) GES Intermediate Certificate in Electrical Installation.
(b) COTVET Certificate II in Electrical Works.
(c) City and Guilds Certificate in Electrical Engineering.
(d) Electrical Engineering Technology Part I (GES).
(2) Plant Mechanics/Fitters.
(a) GES Intermediate Certificate in Plant Mechanic/Fitting.
(b) GES Certificate in Plant Mechanic/Fitting.
(c) COTVET Certificate II in Plant Mechanic/Fitting.
(c) City and Guilds Certificate in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering.
(3) Survey Assistants.
(a) GES Intermediate Certificate in Surveying.

  1. Electrical and Mechanical Engineers Corps (EME). In addition to the General Eligibility applicants must have any of the following:

(1) Vehicle Mechanics. (Must possess at least a valid Driving License Class B with any of the under listed certificates).
(a) GES Intermediate Certificate in Motor Vehicle Engineering.
(b) GES or COTVET Certificate II in Vehicle Technology.
(c) City and Guilds Intermediate (Internal combustion Engines and Motor Vehicles).
(d) City and Guilds Certificate in Motor Vehicle Engineering.
(e) Diploma in Automobile Engineering (GES).
(f) Certificate in Automobile Engineering (GES).
(2) Electronics/Auto Electrician.
(a) GES Intermediate Certificate in Electronics/Auto Electrician.
(b) GES or COTVET Certificate II in Electronics/Auto Electrician.

(d) Diploma in Automobile Electrical Engineering (GES).

(a) GES Intermediate Certificate in Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Technology.

(d) Diploma in Refrigeration and Air-conditioning Engineering (GES).

(4) Metal Smith& Weapon Fitters.
(a) Certificate in Welding and Fabrication (GES Intermediate Certificate II/COTVET Certificate II).
(b) City and Guilds Certificate in Electric and Gas Welding.
(6) Driver Recovery Mechanics.
(a) GES Intermediate Certificate/COTVET Certificate II in Mechanical Engineering.
(b) Diploma/Certificate in Driver Recovery Engineering (GES).
(7) Carpenter/Sprayer.
(a) GES Intermediate Certificate/COTVET Certificate II in Wood Construction Technology and Creative Art Technology.
(b) Diploma/Certificate in Auto Body Spraying and Painting Engineering.
(c) City and Guilds Certificate in Carpentry and Painting.

  1. Signals Corps.

(1) Operation Group.    In addition to the General Eligibility applicants must have 6 credits (not less than Grade C6) at WASSCE including English and Mathematics.  Possession of a valid driving licence is an advantage.
(2) Radio Technician.    In addition to the General Eligibility applicant must have Mathematics, Physics, Elective Mathematics and any of the following:
(a) City and Guilds Certificate in Electronics.
(b) City and Guilds Certificate in Telecommunications.
(3) Line Technician. In addition to the General Eligibility applicants must have 6 credits (not less than Grade C6) at WASSCE including English and Mathematics and any of the following:
(a) Certificate in Fibre Optics Technology.
(b) Certificate in RF Engineering.
(c) Certificate in Satellite Communications.

  1. Directorate of Information Technology (DIT). In addition to the General Eligibility applicants must have 6 credits (not less than Grade C6) at WASSCE including English and Mathematics and any of the following:

(1) Network Administration. N+ Certificate from a recognised Institution including knowledge in LINUX/Windows Server 2003, 2008 and above.
(2) Database Administration. Certification in My SQL, SQL, and Oracle from a recognised Institution.
(3) Computer Programming. Certification in VB, C++ and Java from a recognised Institution.
(4) Web Designing. Certification in HTML, PHP, CSS, CMS, Adobe and Photoshop from a recognised Institution.

  1. Supply and Transport Corps. In addition to the General Eligibility applicants must have 6 credits (not less than Grade C6) at WASSCE including English and Mathematics and any of the following:

(1) Drivers. Professional Driving Licence Class B.
(2) Supply Clerks/Storeman. Certificate in computer software applications (Word, Excel, Access, Corel Drawing etc) from a recognised Institution.
(3) Movement. Diploma/Certificate in Freight Forwarding/Air Travel and Tour from a recognised Institution.
(4) Fireman/Woman.  Certificate in Fire Fighting from National Fire Service plus professional Driving Licence class B.
(5) Cooks.  In addition to the General Eligibility applicants must have the following qualification from a recognised Institution.
(a) HND in Catering. (b) Diploma in Catering. (c) NVTI Grade I & II.

  1. Public Relations Corps. In addition to the General Eligibility applicants must have any of the following:

(1) Information Assistants. Diploma/Certificate (not less than one year continuous study) from a recognised/accredited institution in Journalism, Public Relations, English Language /Literature, Broadcasting, Communication Studies or Photo journalism.
(2) Photographers.  Diploma/Certificate (not less than one year continuous study) from a recognised/accredited institution in general photography.
(3) Cinematographer.      Diploma/Certificate (not less than one year continuous study) from a recognised/accredited institution in Fine Art, Film Editing, Camera Work, Lighting, Film Directing, Sound, Graphic Design or Animation.

  1. Ordnance Corps.

(1) Storeman/Woman. In addition to General Eligibility applicants must have 6 credits (not less than Grade C6) at WASSCE and Diploma in Business Studies and HND in Purchasing and Supply.   (2) Ammunition Technicians.  In addition to General Eligibility applicants must have 6 credits (not less than Grade C6) at WASSCE including science subjects.
(3) Tailors. In addition to General Eligibility applicants must have any of the following:  (a) GES Intermediate Certificate. (b) COVET Certificate II.

  1. Clerk General Duties. In addition to General Eligibility applicants must have 6 credits (not less than Grade C6) at WASSCE including Credit in English and Mathematics and any of the following.

(1) RSA Stage III in secretarial duties and credit in typing.   (2) Typist Grade I and II Certificate from Government Secretarial School.   (3) Stenographer Grade II Certificate.
(4) DBS (Secretarial Option).
(5) Certificate in computer software applications (Word, Excel, Access, Corel Drawing etc) from a recognised Institution.

  1. Education Corps. In addition to General Eligibility applicants must have 6 credits (not less than Grade C6) at WASSCE including English and Mathematics and any of the following.  (1) Teachers Post-Secondary Certificate A.  (2) Teachers Post-Secondary Certificate A (French).  (3) Diploma in Education.  (4) Diploma in Education (French)
  1. Navy Candidates.
  2. Executive Branch. In addition to General Eligibility applicants must have 6 credits at WASSCE including English and Mathematics for the following:

(1) Boatswains Mate.
(2) Radar Plotters.
(3) Wireless Telegraphist.

  1. Supply and Secretarial Branch.

(1) Writer (General Duties).  In addition to General Eligibility applicants must have 6 Credits at WASSCE including English and Mathematics and any of the following:
(a) Ghana Commercial Examination Certificate Stage II.    (b) Certificate/Diploma in Computer Software Application (MS Office) from a recognised institution.    (c) Stenographer GD II.
(2) Writer (Pay).  In addition to the General Eligibility applicants must have any of the following;
(a) Six Credits. (Not less than Grade C6) at WASSCE including English and Mathematics in Accounting or Business options.
(b) RSA III in Accounting.
(c) Diploma in Business Studies (Accounting Option).
(3) Stores.  In addition to General Eligibility applicants must have any of the following:
(a) 6 Credits at WASSCE (Business Subjects) including English and Mathematics.
(b) GES Technical Examinations Unit Certificate in Storekeeping/Purchasing &   Supply/Certificate in Logistics & Transport.      (c) CIPS level II.      (d) HND Purchasing and Supply.
(4) Cooks/Stewards. In addition to the General Eligibility applicants must have any of the following:
(a) 6 Credits at WASSCE (Home Economics option) including English and Mathematics.
(b) GES Intermediate Certificate in Hospitality and Catering Management.  (c) GES or COTVET Certificate II in Hospitality and Catering Management.
(5) Tailors. In addition to the General Eligibility applicants must have any of the following:
(a) GES Intermediate Certificate in Tailoring.
(b) GES or COTVET Certificate II in Tailoring.

  1. Technical Branch. In addition to the General Eligibility applicants must have Certificate in Computing or Information Technology (IT) from any recognised computing or IT Institution as a general requirement for all technical branch applicants.

(1) Engineering Artificers and Mechanics.
(a) 6 credits at WASSCE (Science Option) with Credit (not less than C6) including English and Mathematics.
(b) Marine Engine Mechanics Certificate or equivalent from any recognised institution.
(c) City and Guilds or GES Technical Examination Unit Certificate or Equivalent certificate from recognised institutions in any of the following:
(i) Mechanical Engineering Craft and Advance Practice.
(ii) Mechanical Engineering Technical Part II and III.
(iii) Advance/Ordinary Technician Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
(2) Electrical and Weapon Artificers and Mechanics.
(a) 6 credits at WASSCE (Science Option) with Credit (not less than C6) in  English and Mathematics.
(b) City and Guilds or GES Technical Examination Unit Certificate or equivalent certificate from recognised institutions in any of the following:
(i) Electrical Engineering Technician Part II and III (Heavy Power Option).
(ii) Advance/Ordinary Technician Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Power Option).
(3) Shipwright Artificers and Mechanics.
(a) 6 credits at WASSCE (Not less than C6) in Metal Work/ Wood Work/ Physics including English and Mathematics.
(b) City and Guilds or GES Technical Examination Unit Certificate in any of the following:  (i) Advance Craft in Welding and Fabrication, Plumbing, Carpentry/Woodwork or Painting and Decoration or;     (ii) Advance or Intermediate Certificate in Welding and Fabrication, Plumbing, Carpentry/Woodwork or Painting and Decoration.
(4) Radio Artificers and Mechanics.
(a) 6 credits at WASSCE (Science Option) including English,  Mathematics and Physics.     (b) City and Guilds or GES Technical Examination Unit Certificate  or equivalent from recognised institutions in any of the following:
(i) Advance or Intermediate in Radio, Television and Electronics Servicing.
(ii) Electrical Engineering Technician Part II or III (Electronics  Option).
(5) Refrigeration Mechanics.  City and Guilds or GES Technical Examination Unit Certificate or equivalent certificate in Refrigeration and/or Air conditioning Technology (Advance or Intermediate).
(6) Vehicle Mechanics and Drivers.
(a) GES Intermediate Certificate in Vehicle Mechanic and Driving.
(b) GES or COTVET Certificate II in Vehicle Mechanic and Driving.
(c) City and Guilds Certificate in Mechanical Engineering.
(7) Topo Draughtsman/Architectural Drawing.
(a) GES Intermediate Certificate in Topo Draughtsman/Architectural Drawing.
(b) GES or COTVET Certificate II in Topo Draughtsman/Architectural Drawing.

  1. Physical Training Instructors. In addition to General Eligibility  applicants must have the following:

(1) 6 Credits at WASSCE including English and Mathematics.
(2) Must be a skilled sportsman in at least two sports with proven participation at district or regional level in Ghana.

  1. Air Force Candidates.
  2. Administration Branch.

(1) Air Force Police. In addition to the General Eligibility applicants must have 6 credits (not less than C6) at WASSCE including English and Mathematics.
(2) General Duties Clerk. In addition to the General Eligibility applicants must have any of the following:
(a) 6 credits (not less than C6) at WASSCE including English and Mathematics;
(b) RSA Stage III in secretarial duties and credit in typing.   (c) Typist Grade I and II Certificate from Government Secretarial School.   (d) Stenographer Grade II Certificate.
(e) DBS (Secretarial Option).
(3) General Duties.  In addition to General Eligibility applicants must have 6 credits (not less than C6) at WASSCE including English and Mathematics.
(4) Hospitality & Catering Management.   In addition to General Eligibility applicants must have any of the following:
(a) 6 credits (not less than C6) at WASSCE (Home Economics Option) including English and Mathematics.  (b) GES Intermediate Certificate in Hospitality and Catering Management.  (c)    GES or COTVET Certificate II in Hospitality and Catering Management.

  1. Supply Branch.

(1) Storeman/Supplier.  In addition to the General Eligibility applicants must have any of the following:
(a) 6 credits (not less than C6) at WASSCE (Business Option) including English and Mathematics.
(b) City and Guilds or GES certificate in storekeeping/purchasing and supply.
(2) Cobblers/ Leather Works & Tailor. In addition to the General Eligibility applicants must have:
(a) GES Intermediate Certificate in any of the above.
(b) GES or COTVET Certificate II in any of the above

  1. Engineering Branch.

(1) Airframe, Engines, Radio, Electronic, Instruments, Photo and Armament Trades.  In addition to the General Eligibility applicants must have any of the following:
(a) 6 credits (not less than C6) at WASSCE (Science or Technical Option) including English and Mathematics
(b) City and Guilds Part I /II or GES Intermediate/Final Certificate in Mechanical Engineering Plant/Automotive Engineering/Electrical Technician/Electrical Installation/ Electronic Technician.
(2) Plumbers/Masons/Welders/Machinist/Carpenters/Refrigeration. In addition to the General Eligibility applicants must have GES or City and Guilds Intermediate Certificate in the related field.
(3) Safety and Surface. In addition to the General Eligibility all applicants must have 6 credits at WASSCE including English, Mathematics and credit in Graphics and Design or Fine Art.
(4) Vehicle Mechanic.  In addition to the General Eligibility all applicants must have City and Guilds Intermediate or GES Technical Examination Unit Certificate in Auto Mechanics/Auto Electrician plus a Professional Driver’s License of minimum class C.

  1. Air Branch.

(1) Air Traffic Controller/Operations Clerks. In addition to General Eligibility applicants must have 6 credits (not less than C6) at WASSCE including English, Mathematics and Integrated Science.
(2) Aero Firemen.  In addition to the General Eligibility applicants must have 6 credits (not less than C6) at WASSCE, including Mathematics and English plus a driving licence class D.

  1. Medical Candidates (Army/Navy/Air Force)
  2. In addition to the General Eligibility applicants must have credit in English and Mathematics (not less than Grade C6) at WASSCE.
  3. Must have any of the following from an accredited institution of higher learning with at least one (1) year working experience in a recognized health facility:

(1) General Nurses. Diploma in Nursing (Registered General Nursing/Registered Mental Nursing/Registered Community Nursing/Emergency Nursing) and must have completed the mandatory rotation.  Must have registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council of Ghana.
(2) Nurse Assistants.  Certificate in Nursing (Community Health/Health Assistant Clinical) and must have completed the mandatory rotation. Must have registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council of Ghana.
(3) Midwives.   Diploma in Midwifery (Registered Midwifery) and must have completed the mandatory rotation.  Must have registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council of Ghana.
(4) Pharmacy Technicians.   HND in Dispensing Technology must have completed the mandatory national service.  Must be a registered member and be in good standing with the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana.
(5) Technical Officers (Dental Surgery Assistant).  Diploma in Dental Surgery option and must have completed the mandatory national service.
(6) Technical Officers (Dental Technology). Diploma in Dental Technology option and must have completed the mandatory national service.
(7)  Technical Officers (X’Ray). Diploma in Radiology Technology and must have completed the mandatory national service.  Must be a registered member and in good standing with the Allied Health Professions Council.
(8) Technical Officers (Health Promotion).  Diploma in Public Health (Health Promotion) and must have completed the mandatory national service.
(9) Technical Officers (Medical Laboratory).  Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology plus one (1) year mandatory national service. Must be registered and be in good standing with the Allied Health Professions Council.
(10) Technical Officers (Physiotherapy).   Diploma in Physiotherapy plus one (1) year mandatory national service.  Must be registered and be in good standing with the Allied Health Professions Council.
(11) Technical Officers (Orthotics).  Diploma in Orthotics plus one (1) year mandatory national service.  Must be registered and be in good standing with the Allied Health Professions Council.
(12) Technical Officers (Health Information).  Diploma in Public Health (Informatics)  plus one year mandatory national service.
(13) Technical Officers (Biostatistics).  Diploma in Statistics plus one (1) year mandatory national service.
(14) Technical Officers (Veterinary).  Diploma in Field Animal Health/Veterinary Laboratory Techniques plus one (1) year mandatory national service.
(15) Biomedical Engineering Technologists.  Diploma in Medical Equipment Technology from an accredited institution of higher learning and must have completed the mandatory national service.
(16) Technical Officers (Environmental Health).  Diploma in Public Health (Environmental Health) plus one (1) year mandatory national service.  Must be registered with the Allied Health Professions Council.
(17) Technical Assistant (Environmental Health).  Certificate in Public Health (Environmental Health). Must be registered with the Allied Health Professions Council.
(18) Emergency Medical Technicians.   Certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) –Basic/Advanced level.
(19) Physiotherapist Assistants.   Certificate in Physiotherapy Must be registered with the Allied Health Professions Council.
(20) Medical Laboratory Assistants.  Certificate in Medical Laboratory Technology plus one (1) year post qualification internship. Must be registered with the Allied Health Professions Council.
(21) Environmental Health Assistants.   Certificate in Environmental Health Must be registered with the Allied Health Professions Council.
(22) Biostatistics/Record Assistants.   Certificate in Health Records Management
(23) Ambulance Drivers.   Certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) – Basic with a drivers license “B”.

  1. Band Candidates (Army/Navy/Air Force)
  2. Applicants must have 2 credits and 4 Passes at WASSCE.
  3. Must not be more than 27 years for Regimental Band and not more than 28 years for Dance band respectively.
  4. Must have the following;

(1) Ability to sight-read musical notes.
(2)      Ability to play Woodwind or Brass instruments.
(3) Proficiency in Basic Music (ABRSM) Theory Grade 4 will be an added advantage.

  1. Read through the entry requirements thoroughly. 11. Ensure your mobile phone’s Cell Broadcast Message Service is turned “ON”. This can be done by going through the following steps on your phone; a. Messages

  18. Page 3: Enter the results of only the TWO required core subjects on your WASSCE/SSCE Certificate, that is; CORE MATHEMATICS AND CORE ENGLISH. Enter your WASSCE Index number, WASSCE results slip serial number. Upload only scanned copies of the following; WASSCE or Trade Certificate. NB: Each scanned document (Passport picture, WASSCE, Trade/Technical certificate,) to be uploaded, shall not exceed 1(One) Megabyte and should be in JPEG picture format only.
  19. Click on the Preview Button to see a summary page of all data provided. Read through this page carefully and click on the back button, if there are any modifications to be made.
  20. Click on the submit button and expect an instant e-mail and text message, which includes your unique system generated Identification Number.
  21. Print and keep a copy of the generated report as you will be required to present it, if you are Shortlisted. However, if you lose your copy of the report, go back to the recruitment portal, click on the Check Details Tab, enter your unique identification number sent to you by SMS/E-Mail and order a reprint.

ADMINISTRATION

  1. Transportation/Feeding/Accommodation. Applicants are responsible for their own transportation, feeding and accommodation throughout the recruitment exercise.
